Hello there everyone! My name is Amelia. I’m a 17 year old PPL(A) Student, Gliding Instructor, Motorglider pilot and Full Time A-levels Student. I am also part of the Elevate(hers) team for 2023-24.

I recently completed my first year of A-levels and just finished all my PPL Written exams. I’m currently completing the rest of my PPL training throughout my summer holidays, with thanks to the Attagirls Molly Rose Pilot Scholarship.

Flying has been my passion since the age of 4, when I first flew to Scily Isles on a twin otter and there were two female pilots in the cockpit. Ever since then, I’ve always been aviation obsessed! I began flying gliders at the age of 13, went solo in them by the age of 14 (whilst dodging covid lockdowns!) and became one of the UK’s youngest gliding instructors at the age of 16. Since I began flying, I made it my mission to share the awesome world of aviation to people through social media and first hand! My ambition in coming years is to become a Flight Instructor or join the military as aircrew.

Would be great to meet more aviators in the future, see you in the skies, Amelia (@amelia_glider_pilot)

    Hi Everyone!

My name is Rosie, I have been interested in aviation for a long time and I am now finally starting my flying journey. I have had a couple of lessons and have loved every second in the sky. I hope to very soon start pursuing my goal of acquiring my PPL with the aim of eventually flying commercially.

This photo is from my most recent lesson, I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time!

    Hello all!

My name is Peyton Kraus, and I am currently working towards my PPL (A) in Alaska, USA.  I never thought aviation would be something I’d be  interested in, until I had the opportunity to go flying with Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). With this flight I had the opportunity to maneuver the aircraft, and afterward I was absolutely hooked! Once I knew aviation was something I’m passionate about I found organizations to join like Women in Aviation International and Elevate(her). These organizations helped me stay connected to the aviation community to keep the aviation bug alive. My goal is to complete my PPL training next summer before I start school in the fall of 2025. I know the journey will not be an easy one, but I am determined to pursue my passion.

This photo was taken after my first discovery flight in Alaska, which was absolutely amazing! The views were incredible, and I had a phenomenal time learning new things.

I look forward to connecting with you all in the future!

    Hi everyone,

my name is Hanna and I started my SPL in Germany last year.
I got into flying through a job in a café at an airfield, where I met my current best friend, who flies a PA28 himself.
I fell in love with flying through weekly evening flights.
You can find me not only in aircrafts, but now also in the tower, where I take over the radio at the weekends 🙂

The picture is after my first solo in the C42. Looking forward to getting to know you all

Hey ! My name is Tilly, I’m currently at the end of ground school with Skyborne and have just 4 exams left to sit in 2 weeks before heading out to Florida to get my CPL! I grew up on a dairy farm where my dad got his PPL in a microlight from the farm strip, ever since he started taking me up I fell in love with flying and it quickly became all I could see myself doing once I realised it was a viable career path for me! I am so lucky to have my parents as my biggest supporters, I definitely couldn’t do it without them. I had 10 hours with an instructor a couple of years ago and couldn’t wait to start my journey in aviation.
So very grateful for communities like this! Super exciting meeting so many new people and immersing myself in this experience, am loving Skyborne so far and look forward to all the future holds!

this picture is one of many of me and my dad out on a flight (in winter as you can tell!).

Hi Everyone! I am Ira from Nepal, an aspiring mechanical engineer, and a Space, STEM, and aviation enthusiast.

The Nepalese aviation industry isn’t quite huge and hence, we lack flying schools. I’ve had the opportunity to take constant flights around the country since an early age which made me love airplanes but Nepal’s geography and old planes have been causing many crashes and accidents making aviation safety a concern here. In the long run, I aim to get involved to contribute to better aviation safety.

One of my favorite aviation memories is when I got to visit The Adampur Airforce Station in India during Space Camp India where I represented Nepal. We learned about the airforce training and also got to visit the fighter planes hangar. It was an awestrucking moment for me as we don’t have an airforce unit in Nepal and experiencing this was magical!

We weren’t allowed to take pictures ourselves but they provided us with the pictures of during our briefing later. Here is one of it:

Hello hello, this is very exciting and I’ve loved watching how this has grown!

My name is Tracey and I love all things aviation.

My chequebook only allowed for paragliding in my younger years. I have been flying those for 30yrs and am now an instructor. This allows me to follow other forms of aviation ☺️ I’m busy finishing off my Microlight license, have just bought my own little weight shift Microlight Zu-Ant.
I also fly the two seater Sling whenever I get the opportunity and am saving up for my PPL.

Photo is me flying the Foxbat with my favorite instructor and friend.

    Dear ladies and gentlemen,

my name is Rosina, I am flying mum, skydiving instructor and pilot, holder of ATPL (A), PPL (H) and ULL.

I am the founder and chief instructor of EXTREME 66 flying school. I love all kinds of flying: parachutes, aerobatics, helicopters as well as airliners. My goal in aviation is to share my passion and live to the E66 motto: Too much flying is not enough!

I am proud to be vice president of CAP (Czech female pilot club, nonprofit association), we have started together with my pilot girl friends in Prague, Czech republic. I am attaching photo from one of my first flights with my daughter, on our way to annual meeting of FEWS ( Federation of Women Pilots) on behalf of CAP.

Blue skies and look forward to flying with you soon 😉

    Hoi allemaal!

Genoeg over mij. Hopelijk tot ziens in de mooie luchtvaartsector! ✈️

    Met vriendelijke groeten,

    Jade Scholtens

    Hii,

My name is Esther, I’m 18 years old and a glider pilot in Germany 🙂

I’m just not sure whether my previous post really was posted so here we go again haha

It’s sooo cool being in this community and seeing you all tell your stories about how you got into aviation and what you’re currently up to!

However, what I did recently was competing in the german women’s gliding championships which was my first actual competition and I finished 7th place!!! Sooo so excited about it and I’m stoked to get even more into gliding but also one day starting to get to know powered flying 😉

    Greetings<3

    Hi Everyone,

My name is Natasha, I’m based in the West Midlands, I’m currently working towards my PPL (A) whilst juggling a 9 to 5.

I got in to aviation a bit later than I would have liked, but having tried different jobs in various sectors, I can definitely say I have found the industry for me. I had my first trial flight in Liverpool back in 2022 and that made me fall in love with aviation and I’ve never looked back.

This photo is one of my favourites, I finished up a lesson as the sun was setting, it just made me think how lucky we are to see such beautiful views like this.

Looking forward to connecting to you all and I wish everyone the best of luck on your journeys!

Hi I’m Norah. I’m 16 and I’m currently working towards getting a PPL(A) in a Cessna 172. I’ve been really interested in the idea of flying since I was very young. I not only love flying planes but also the idea that I can travel anywhere and fly in any country with a PPL. I’ve been so lucky to grow up in a family with a passion for aviation. My dad used to be an air cadet and flew in a chipmunk, and has been so helpful throughout my flying journey. My grandfather used to work for Roles Royce building jet engines, and my mum has had a few lessons in a Cessna. I live on the flight path to Cork airport in Ireland and I love watching all the planes landing and taking off.

One day I hope to become a commercial pilot travelling around the world and experiencing new places. Here is a photo from my most recent flight where I practiced slow flight:
